Indices closed in the green zone on Friday. Stocks stepped up on news that U.S. and China trade talks will resume next week in Washington. PepsiCo tacked on 2.95% today after reporting fourth-quarter earnings that were slightly short of estimates. Meanwhile, first-quarter earnings for Deere & Co. hit $1.54 per share, versus estimates of $1.76. Revenue of $6.94 billion exceeded forecasts of $6.82 billion. The tractor titan shed 2.11% for the session. On another note, crude oil jumped up. West Texas Intermediate crude climbed 2.2% to settle at $55.59 per barrel.
