OCTOBER 2017. KENNESAW, Ga.— Henssler Financial hosted a “Marathon Month” for its employees, encouraging staff to stay active while supporting a good cause.
Participating employees logged miles, either by walking or running, with each mile generating a $1 donation from the firm to The Center for Family Resources, a local non-profit that helps Cobb County families and individuals by giving them the resources and support to escape the cycle of poverty.
More than 30 employees walked or ran for a combined 1,092 miles during the month of September, which amounted to a $1,092 donation from the firm. Amazon gift cards were awarded to those who achieved either a half marathon at 13.1 miles, a marathon at 26.2 miles or the ultra-marathon at 39.3 miles. Additionally, 68% of participants elected to donate their gift cards to The CFR, bringing the total donation to $1,512.
“I was so pleased to see the level of participation and to hear about some of the office competitions that were taking place to motivate each other to get moving! On top of it all, it was for a cause that is near and dear to my heart,” said Stacy Haubenschild, Henssler Financial’s Chief Operating Officer and board member for The CFR.
The top marathoners were DiLuzio & Henssler Administrative Assistant Gwen Spears with 134.09 miles and Henssler Trader Garrett Bauman with 101.33 miles.
