Kennesaw Financial Firm’s Marathon Month Nets Nearly $1,200 for The Center for Family Resources

NOVEMBER 2019. KENNESAW, Ga.— Henssler Financial hosted a “Marathon Month” as the firm’s third-quarter fitness contest for employees, encouraging staff to stay active and included a charitable aspect to stay motivated.

The firm pledged $1 per mile for each intentional mile either walked or run by participating employees. Distance organically obtained during the day did not count toward the total. More than 15 employees walked or ran for a combined 1,000 miles during September and October, which amounted to a $1,000 donation from the firm. Employees had to exercise by walking, jogging, or running, documenting their distance with GPS tracking or photos of the treadmill display.

The donation was given to The Center for Family Resources, a local non-profit that helps Cobb County families and individuals by giving them the resources and support to escape the cycle of poverty.

Gift cards were awarded to those who achieved either a half marathon at 13.1 miles, a marathon at 26.2 miles or the ultra-marathon at 39.3 miles. Additionally, nearly half of the participants elected to donate their gift cards to The CFR, bringing the total donation to $1,180.

“It is so important for people to get physical activity in their day. We issue quarterly challenges to our staff to encourage these habits. Pledging a donation to a charity that we work closely with throughout the year really keeps everyone motivated when life gets busy,” said Stacy Haubenschild, Henssler Financial’s Chief Operating Officer and former board member for The CFR.

The top marathoner was Henssler Operations Specialist Garrett Bauman with 243.73 miles.
