Indices closed well into the green zone on Friday, May 3, 2019. The NASDAQ Composite traded to a new all-time high. Stocks including Dentsply Sirona, New Jersey Resources, and CBOE Global Markets stepped up on the release of better-than-expected earnings and favorable employment numbers. Department of Labor data showed the U.S. economy added 263,000 jobs in April versus expectations of 181,000. The unemployment rate fell to a 49-year low of 3.6%. On another note, crude oil ticked up. West Texas Intermediate crude added 0.2% today to settle at $61.94 a barrel.
