Wednesday’s session closed with gains. Brands such as Boeing, Hewlett-Packard, UnitedHealth, and Pfizer stood out among Dow advancers. Stocks climbed on earnings season optimism. Respectable results from Alcoa, released after the closing bell on Tuesday, may have inspired action. On another note, crude oil shed 14 cents to settle at $93.01 a barrel. Looking ahead, earnings season continues with reports due from Washington Federal on Thursday and Wells Fargo on Friday.
