A Mixed Session

Indices ended mixed on Friday. The Dow and S&P 500 posted gains. The Nasdaq closed in the red zone. Action was volatile today on Wall Street, brands rebounded off of session low levels. Consumer-staples, utility and health-care stocks led the S&P 500’s ascent. Oracle led the Nasdaq lower, in the wake of the tech titan’s missed expectations for software sales and subscriptions for a second consecutive quarter. For the week, the Dow slipped 1.8 percent, the S&P 500 was down by 2.1 percent, and the Nasdaq shed 1.9 percent, marking the largest weekly downswing for all three since April and also the fourth week of losses out of the past five.
