Henssler Financial Staff Feeds 65 Families for Thanksgiving Through The Center for Family Resources

NOVEMBER 2020. KENNESAW, Ga.— Henssler Financial collected enough between food and monetary donations to fill 65 Family Food Boxes for The Center for Family Resources’ Thanks for Giving food drive.

“With COVID-19 keeping us all socially distant, The CFR took a different approach to their food drive this year, asking sponsors to collect items to complete a Family Food Box,” said Stacy Haubenschild, Chief Operations Officer and Principal at Henssler Financial. “In the past, we would volunteer at the distribution center, sorting food and filling boxes for families. While we didn’t get the volunteer time in this year, I’m very proud to say we far exceeded our initial pledge of 40 complete boxes.”

For every completed box filled by staff donations, Dr. Gene and Pat Henssler and Chris Reeves of Reeves Law Firm, generously donated a $15 gift card so that the receiving family can purchase their turkey or ham.

“Thanksgiving is more than a meal. It is centered around tradition and family. We wanted to keep these traditions alive for families in need,” said Dr. Gene Henssler, Principal and Director of the firm.

In total, the staff contributed more than 1,755 cans of vegetables, fruit, or beans; 195 cans of meat or fish, and 260 boxes of pasta or rice. Each Family Food box was packed with a wide variety of pantry staples and special ingredients for a Thanksgiving meal.

The CFR has been helping make Thanksgiving traditions happen for more than 30 years through their Thanks for Giving program. Thanksgiving week can be even more financially stressful when students are home from school for more than just the holiday meal. The Center for Family Resources has been empowering Cobb families to self-sufficiency since 1960.
