A Mixed Session

Indices ended Friday’s session mixed. The Dow and Nasdaq shed some points while the S&P 500 added marginal gains, increasing its 2013 advance to 19%. General Electric stepped up after issuing better-than-forecast earnings results. Meanwhile, Microsoft and Google traded lower today in the wake of less-than-stellar quarterly results released after the closing bell on Thursday. Elsewhere, crude oil futures added a penny to settle at $108.05 a barrel. Looking ahead, earnings season rolls on next week with quarterly numbers due from Apple on Tuesday and Facebook and Caterpillar on Wednesday.
