Indices ended mixed on Thursday. Cisco, Home Depot, DuPont and Boeing led the Dow’s ascent while a downswing for Apple pressured the Nasdaq. Meanwhile, the Labor Department reported a decrease in initial jobless claims. New claims fell by 5,000 to 330,000 last week. Down from the previous week’s figure of 335,000, economists were expecting an increase to 355,000. On another note, crude oil futures tacked on 72 cents to settle at $95.95 a barrel. Looking ahead, the Census Bureau is set to release new home sales data tomorrow.
