Stocks Rally

Indices closed at session peak levels Wednesday. Financial shares such as JPMorgan Chase, American Express and Bank of America led advancers on the Dow. Stocks prospered amid a variety of economic data. The Federal Reserve’s Beige Book report, which covered activity for the latter part of the summer, showed that economic growth expanded at a modest rate in most districts, although some noted mixed or weakening activity. On another note, crude oil tacked on $3.32 to settle at $89.34 a barrel. Looking ahead, new jobless claims figures and trade gap numbers are due for release tomorrow.
